ROAM Insight Back Catalogue
ROAM Insight Issue #11
ROAM Consulting publishes an annual statement of forecast conditions in the Australian NEM called ROAM Insight. The publication is currently in its 11th Edition and incorporates detailed 6-year-ahead forecasts of :
- Wholesale pool prices
- Individual station production
- Committed generation augmentations
- Predicted future generation augmentations required to meet reliability requirements
- Transmission line flows, loading and frequency of constraints based on the NEMMCO ANTS 2007 constraint set
- In-depth analysis of the market and explanations of key issues and drivers for market change in the short-to-medium term
- Estimated quantities of expected Unserved Energy (USE) by region
This year ROAM Insight also includes a detailed analysis on a per region basis of the market impact of implementing the new federal policy to increase the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET). The effect on wholesale pool prices, generation levels of existing and new plant, and generator pool revenues are all examined in light of this major change. The effectiveness of increased renewable generation in reducing emission levels is reviewed - essential information for anyone who will be affected by climate change policy.
The figure below provides a sample of just a few of the wide range of outcomes reported within the ROAM Insight Issue #11 publication.
ROAM Insight is published in an easy to read format and provides over eighty full colour pages complete with graphs, tables and in depth commentary to help the user identify the issues and facts of most importance to her or himself.
For the discerning user ROAM Consulting recommends the Data Analysis Tools DVD, the perfect companion to your ROAM Insight printed report. The DVD provides the user with a suite of Microsoft Excel-based analytical spreadsheets, providing the capability to burrow into the underlying half hourly dispatch data of each simulation in order to focus on results specific to the user's needs. The user can then make further conclusions from this data, supplementing those which are published in the report.

ROAM Insight Issue #10
ROAM Consulting publishes an annual statement of forecast conditions in the Australian NEM called ROAM Insight. The publication is currently in its 10th Edition and incorporates detailed 6-year-ahead forecasts of:
- Pool prices
- Individual station production
- Committed generation augmentations
- Predicted future generation augmentations
- Transmission line flows, loading and constraint conditions
- In-depth analysis of the market and explanations of key issues and drivers for market change in the short-to-medium term
- Estimated medium term CO2 emissions trends and much more
This year for the first time ROAM Insight includes scenario analysis describing the market impact by region of additional generation required to meet system reliability requirements. This incorporates NEMMCO's new minimum reserve levels published in September 2006 and effective for at least the next two years. Other inclusions are generator emissions estimates for different plant technologies, an essential piece of knowledge for anyone potentially affected by climate change policy.
The figure below provides a sample of just a few of the wide range of outcomes reported within the ROAM Insight Issue #10 publication.
ROAM Insight is available as a full colour printed bound report. Also available to the user who wants increased detail is the Data Analysis Tools DVD. The Data Analysis Tools provide the user with a suite of Microsoft Excel-based analytical spreadsheets, providing the capability to burrow into the underlying half hourly dispatch data of each simulation in order to focus on results specific to the users needs. There are over 300 simulation years of raw data included, totalling over 1 gigabyte of data.
